Yes, most types of cardboard can be recycled. Corrugated cardboard is a thick, multi-layered cardboard used for shipping and delivery boxes. In order for it be recycled, it must be kept dry and clean, with non-cardboard inserts removed.  

Companies are encouraged to recycle cardboard for economic, environmental and corporate responsibility reasons. With e-commerce driving a sharp increase in cardboard waste, managing this material effectively has become an essential part of business strategy. 

For Go-Pak customers, OCC can be returned in a variety of convenient ways. If you have a scheduled delivery, we can collect your OCC at the same time, making recycling effortless and integrated into your existing operations. Smaller volumes of cardboard, whether baled, caged, palletised or loose, can also be booked for collection by emailing recycle@go-pakgroup.com.  

Alternatively, if you are passing by our Sharpness site, you are welcome to self-deliver your OCC directly. We provide unloading support using clamp trucks for bales and forklifts for pallets or cages, along with calibrated weighbridge solutions to ensure accurate measurement. For larger volumes, we may provide transport coverage or even rebates for your material.

Non-Go-Pak customers can also take advantage of our Go-Recycle programme. Collections can be arranged from anywhere in mainland UK, depending on transport compatibility and availability. We accept OCC that is pre-baled, palletised or caged, and you can also deliver your material to our site. We recommend contacting our customer service team or your Go-Pak sales representative to discuss your specific needs, material volumes and storage style. 

The Go-Recycle programme is open to anyone or any organisation with OCC or shrink wrap that they would like to recycle responsibly. This includes local authorities with cardboard waste, recycling companies looking for a delivered-in solution, staff wishing to bring materials from home and businesses seeking an alternative to Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) for disposing of cardboard. Essentially, any individual or organisation can use the programme to access easy, reliable recycling solutions. 

To take part in Go-Recycle, the OCC must meet a few simple criteria. For collections eligible for rebates, the minimum quantity is generally five mill-size bales, ten pallets or twenty-five small bales. Smaller quantities can still be collected through our free-of-charge transport options. All material should be dry and free from contamination, such as plastic, organic waste or metal, to ensure it can be efficiently recycled. Collections should be arranged in advance by contacting recycle@go-pakgroup.com, allowing us to manage the process smoothly and reliably. 

You can return OCC as frequently as your storage allows and as often as you generate sufficient material to meet your collection or delivery requirements. For Go-Pak customers, returns can be scheduled alongside your regular deliveries, and for self-delivery, you can bring material to our Sharpness site whenever it is convenient. The flexibility of Go-Recycle is designed to make recycling easy and reliable, fitting seamlessly into your operations. 

The recent Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) legislation requires businesses to account for and manage their packaging waste. By recycling OCC through Go-Recycle, your organisation can offset recycled tonnages against EPR obligations, demonstrating compliance and potentially reducing associated costs. You will also receive proof of recycling, helping to meet legal requirements efficiently.
